Failure to follow all warnings and instructions contained in this guide could result in an uncontrolled fire or explosion causing damage to property, or could cause burns, serious injury, or death.
Please read the installation, operation, and maintenance instructions, as well as all local guidelines and regulations related to outdoor fires and outdoor cooking thoroughly before installing or servicing this equipment.
Do not use this outdoor firepit indoors, or in a building, garage, shelter, or other enclosed or covered area. It should only be used outdoors in a well-ventilated area. If used indoors, toxic fumes can accumulate and cause injury or death.
Use your firepit only on an even, level, stable, and non-flammable surface, such as concrete, rock, or stone. Asphalt or blacktop surfaces may not be appropriate because they can be affected by intense heat. Do not use near buildings or on decks or other wood, plastic, or composite surfaces.
Use your firepit a safe distance away from flammable and heat sensitive objects and surfaces, as embers and sparks can fall through the bottom vent and drain holes or over the rim of the firepit as wood burns and settles. Pay careful attention during usage to any small embers, coals, or sparks that may fall out of the firepit onto the surrounding ground while in use, and extinguish safely and appropriately.
Keep the area around the firepit clear of combustible or flammable liquids and gases, such as gasoline, alcohol, propane and fuel tanks, aerosol cans, etc.
Never use gasoline, alcohol, kerosene, diesel fuel, or other fluids to ignite the fire.
This device is not designed for use as and should not be used as a heater.
Never leave this or any lit firepit unattended, especially around children and pets.
This firepit is not for commercial use.
When using this firepit, exercise the same precautions you would with any open fire.
Use caution when assembling and operating your firepit to avoid cuts or scrapes from sharp edges.
Improper assembly, installation, adjustment, service, or maintenance can cause injury, death, or property damage. Do not use without all parts in place and installed correctly per this Owner’s Manual, and all parts securely fastened. Do not alter this firepit in any manner.
Assembled firepit and some component pieces are heavy – use two people to lift, move, and carry the firepit to avoid strains or injury.
Do not use this firepit under any overhead covering or near any unprotected combustible construction, or near or under overhanging trees and shrubs.
Do not store or use an LP gas cylinder near your firepit while it is in operation.
Keep all electrical cords away from firepit.
Never attempt to lift, carry, move, cover, or store firepit during operation, before fire and coals are completely extinguished, or while device is still hot.
Do not burn trash, leaves, plastic, paper, cardboard, plywood, painted or stained, or pressure-treated wood. Avoid using softwood such as pine or cedar that can throw sparks.
Do not lean over this firepit when lighting or when in use.
We do not recommend using starter fluid to light or relight fires in the Flatiron Firepit™. Never add starter fluid to an already burning fire or hot or warm coals.
Clear away all flammable material, such as leaves, brush, debris, wood, paper, and trash, away from on and around firepit each time before usage.
Do not wear flammable or loose clothing when operating this firepit.
Do not use in windy conditions.
Do not overload the firepit. Wood, charcoal, and coals should rest on the bottom base of the Fire Bowl, and should not be stacked against or supported by the sides of the Fire Bowl.
This firepit is not to be operated by children, or by adults who are not responsible and experienced with starting outdoor fires. Keep small children and pets away from area where firepit is in use.
All surfaces of this firepit are hot when in operation. To avoid burns do not touch firepit until it has completely cooled, unless you are wearing protective gear (fireproof or heat resistant gloves, BBQ mittens, hot pads, etc.)
Use heat resistant gloves, BBQ mitts, or hot pads when adjusting the airflow setting.
Use extreme caution when adding or removing the Center Grill grate when firepit is hot or in use. Grill grate will become extremely hot and can cause severe burns if touched with exposed skin or non-fireproof gloves. Use extreme caution when adding wood or charcoal to an existing fire.
When removing a hot Center Grill grate, be sure to set it on a non-flammable, non-heat sensitive surface to allow it to cool down safely away from children and others who could step on or come into contact with it unwittingly.
Never touched ashes or coals to see if they are hot.
This firepit is not to be used in or on boats, RVs, trailers, trucks, or any other vehicles or non-stationary surfaces.
Use of alcohol, prescription or nonprescription drugs may impair the consumer’s ability to properly assemble or safely operate this firepit.
Do not place hot firepit tools or a hot Center Grill grate onto combustible or heat sensitive surfaces such as grass, leaves, wood, plastic, or furniture.
The Firepit Shelf does provide some minimal protection around the edge of the firepit, but it is not a guard or safety device. The shelf is made of metal and can and does get hot. Do not place flammable or heat sensitive items on the shelf.
Never stand or lean on the Firepit Shelf.
Do not leave fire tools, cooking tools, or other tools on top of or leaning against the Firepit Shelf, the Center Grill, or the Plancha Griddle.
This device is designed to provide a flat metal cooking surface that can be heated with wood fire. As with any food preparation, improper cooking or food handling can cause sickness or death. Ensuring safe food handling and cooking temperatures is entirely the responsibility of the user.
Never remove the Plancha Griddle from an active or hot firepit until it has had several hours to cool down after the fire is extinguished. Check to see that the Plancha Griddle has cooled down before attempting to move it.
Do not attempt to install the Plancha Griddle when the firepit has an active fire or hot coals in it, or is hot or in use. Adding the Plancha Griddle to a hot firepit can be dangerous to people nearby, and can result in the griddle not being installed insecurely and unable to be adjusted because of the heat. Allow the fire to burn out before adding or removing any attachments to the firepit.
Do not use excess butter, fats, or oils in cooking, as they can cause flames and flare ups when exposed to fire. Use caution when cooking meat and other foods with excess fat.
Deaths, serious injury or damage to property may occur if the above is not followed exactly.
Always keep a fire extinguisher nearby when firepit is in use. Maintain and service your fire extinguisher regularly.
Always use in accordance with all applicable local, state and national codes. Contact your local fire department for details, guidelines, and restrictions on outdoor burning.
If you live in a coastal area, or have your product located near a pool, you should regularly (as often as needed, or at least 3 or 4 times per year) wash, rinse, and dry all exterior surfaces and oil all exposed metal surfaces.
Combustion of wood, charcoal, or similar fuels can lead to exposure of chemicals including carbon black and carbon monoxide, which are known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm. We do not recommend lighting fires or using this or any product within the State of California.
